Silver Mountain Vineyards
Top quality fruit produces
exceptional wine—and it all begins in Silver Mountain's
estate organic vineyard.
Estate Organic Vineyard
Our 100 percent organic viticulture starts
with a fundamental concern for the environment, and expands
to include a healthier and more delicious end product for
our customers. Silver Mountain employs organically approved
and naturally occurring substances in all vineyard applications,
which means that no chemical herbicides, insecticides, fungicides
or synthetic fertilizers are used in our vineyard.

Intense Flavors
While implementing these methods is costly
and labor intensive, organic farming produces fresher fruit
and healthier vines than traditional methods using man-made
chemicals. The result is award-winning wine with more intensity
and stronger flavors than its counterparts.
Mountain Appellation
Another secret to producing premium fruit
is our location high in the mountains. Mountain soil tends
to be poor, without a lot of nutrients. As a result, the
vines have to struggle more to produce, which yields smaller
lots of grapes with more character and a complex variety
of flavors. Influenced by the Monterey Bay, the cooler climate
of Silver Mountain also means that the fruit takes longer
to ripen resulting in longer hang time and enhanced flavor.
Richness and Individuality
Silver Mountain's unique combination of climate,
geography, abundant sunlight and organic growing techniques
creates the ideal backdrop for producing wines of richness
and individuality.
Award-Winning Wines
At Silver Mountain, we are devoted to the
production of robust and complex world-class wines. These
premier wines are marked by quality, richness of flavor
and layers of complexity.

Pinot
Noir - 2006, Santa Cruz Mountains, Muns Vineyard
$38.00

Brilliant cherry on the front palate, backed by rich, concentrated black cherry and berry fruits with nutmeg and cinnamon notes, with subtle hints of oak aromatics. A big Pinot, but elegant, structured, balanced – an exceptional example from the phenomenal 2005 vintage. Shows the characteristic minerality of the Santa Cruz Mountains. This wine is delicious now, and for the more patient of us will prove very rewarding with further aging.
At 2600’ elevation on the Loma Prieta ridgetop overlooking Monterey Bay, Muns Vineyard is at the
highest vineyard elevation in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It sits above the fog line and is cooled by the gentle maritime breeze that sweeps in almost constantly off of Monterey Bay in the summertime– ideal for growing premium Pinot Noir. In the winter it is not uncommon for the vineyard to beblanketed in snow. The soil varies from rich loam to shale to red clay.
The fruit is grown by Ed Muns, with diligent attention to sustainable vineyard practices that produce extraordinary wine grapes.
